Juan López is a 70-year-old coffee producer who has worked in the fields all his life. At the age of 12 he started as a coffee picker, and until he was 30 he was a day laborer, but his dream was to have his own farm. At the age of 30 he began to plant on a small piece of land inherited by his father. The support of his family, discipline and love for coffee have led him to grow. Today he has an 8-hectare farm, mostly planted with varieties such as catuaí, caturra and catiguá, from which they obtain approximately 230 bushels of coffee per harvest.
He carries out processes such as Washed, Honey, semi-washed and his specialty, Natural coffee.
His farm, located in San Juan Norte de Rivas, is in one of the regions with the greatest potential for growth in specialty coffee production in all of Costa Rica. For 5 years Juan López has received commercial and financial support from CoopeAgri and 100 Libras to develop and export his coffees around the world.
